India’s largest women’s apparel brand Shein has set a new sales record in 2017.
The company said its sales grew by 11 per cent in the past fiscal.
Shein’s sales rose by 8 per cent year-on-year in the 2017 fiscal.
Its stock is up 50 per cent over the last three years.
The brand is the second largest clothing brand in the country, behind J Crew.
The sales of the brand rose by almost 5 per cent due to increased volume.
Sheina has over 1,200 stores in India, including in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
The Shein brand has expanded into the footwear market in recent years, with its range of footwear including footwear and womens shoes.
India’s fashion industry has experienced rapid growth in the last few years.
According to industry tracker Mintel, India is now the second most-populous country in the world, after China.
Women have been increasingly turning to fashion brands for their fashion needs.
In 2017, India’s total female fashion market grew by 17 per cent, to $17.6 billion.
The market grew an impressive 22 per cent for the year to March 31.
